I decided to try the waffle as well as a crepe. There were about 8 people ahead of me in line, and even though the girls inside were really busy, my food came out in about 8 minutes. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere reminded me of the time I spent in Paris. I really liked being able to sit outside with out feeling rushed to leave. Me and my friends stayed for about an hour, and found it to be very enjoyable. Bryce: 8.5 Elizabeth: 8 What was the best thing you ate? Preston: I got a waffle with strawberries and whipped cream on the top. It was OK but going there within a few days of going to Bruges and Frites (downtown SLC) isn't really fair. I also got a plain waffle but I don't think they are quite sweet enough to enjoy without any toppings. Kelsey: The waffle was good. The perfect amount of cinnamon. It was thick and filling, which I liked. I think there is a little improvement to be made on the waffle (a little dry) but nothing a little whipped cream wouldn't fix (which they gave me complimentary when I came up to the window after I had gotten my food and asked to buy some). The crepe was incredible. It truly brought me back to Paris - especially with the generous amounts of fresh fruit they pile on. One of the best parts is that I only paid about $3.50 for a crepe with tons of fruit and about $4.00 for my waffle. Bryce: The waffle with bananas strawberries and nutella. Apparently they changed the way they cook the waffles because the one i had was super moist and insanely delicious. It tasted like chocolate dipped strawberries and bananas on this sweet cakey thing. My buddy had a crepe they call "American Style" - it had butter, cinnamon and sugar on it and he said it was really good too. Elizabeth: A crepe with nutella and strawberries with whipped cream. The crepe was enormous and there was a generous amount of fruit inside and outside. The whipped cream was rich and delicious. Apparently their whipped cream is made from scratch. One of my favorite parts. What was the worst thing you ate? Preston: I was excited to go try their fries because I read online that they did them also (which also reminded me of Bruges). They don't have them yet, though, so don't plan on getting anything salty. Kelsey: Honestly it was all pretty good! Bryce: I'll have to try a crepe next time and see for myself how good it is, but the waffle I had was so good. Elizabeth: The crepe was great. Next time I'll get a waffle and write my review on that. How was the service? Preston: It's really just a stand. It's right across from J-Dawgs so I guess they're trying to replicate the model (start with a stand, move to a restaurant). They were friendly and the prices did seem good. The people behind me in line had to walk to the gas station to get cash because their credit card processing software wasn't working (they were taking all orders on an ipad). Kelsey: The service was so great. The staff seemed really bubbly and friendly. I loved that they were so willing to make my experience better, even at a cost to them. Bryce: Great. Chill atmosphere and nice people. I liked how fast my food came out. Elizabeth: It was great. I felt very welcomed and it was pretty speedy. The outside seating was lovely and inviting too. Would you go back? Preston: I don't think I would go out of my way to eat here but if I happen to get a sweet tooth after eating at J-Dawgs or something maybe I would stop by. I haven't tried their crepes yet so I guess I should try those before deciding whether I can live without Awful Waffle... Kelsey: For SURE. This would be a really cool place to go on a relaxed date and feel satisfied. I came here after a show at Muse and it was the perfect way to end the night. It helps too that they are open until 11 on weekdays and midnight on weekends. We will be back tomorrow! Bryce: Absolutely. I like how the food tasted high quality but it wasn't expensive at all. This place is basically right on campus too which I like since I walk right past it every day early. I didn't come in for breakfast this time but I think next time I will get something to-go on my way to class. Elizabeth: Absolutely. I'm already craving another crepe. |
